The presence of this species in the British Isles is considered doubtful since it is not known to migrate, and the range does not extend anywhere close to the British Isles. However, this species is figured in early publications as being British with all specimens being recorded from Kent.
This species was first defined in Denis & Schiffermüller (1775) as shown here (type locality: Vienna, Austria).
