I was at a Small Apollo site at 2,100m north of Entraunes when I came upon this critter. I'm aware cacaliae is present in the Queyras region (and indeed I saw plenty there) but I wasn't expecting it in the Alpes de Haute Provence.
What else could it be?

Re: Dusky Grizzled Skipper?
I think it looks spot on for cacaliae from both surfaces. I counted at least 20 at the Queyras on 4 July.
As you say, what else could it be.

Thanks, both. It was 'chunky' so I sort of knew but when you see one in a place you don't expect then you doubt yourself.
