A Scarce Tortoiseshell was seen on 12th March at Holt Country Park, Norfolk. Reported on BugAlert

Hopefully the first of many to come out of hibernation following the influx from last year.
Another was photographed at RSPB Fowlmere in Cambridgshire, on 21st March by Dave Curnow. The photo is on the Cambridgeshire and Essex BC website under that date http://www.cambs-essex-butterflies.org. ... gs2015.php

This is going to be very interesting. There looks to be a decent chance of a further brood with this species.

Spring has started on a cool note and the emerging species have only been seen in very small numbers so far. However, the most notable sighting has been of 2 Wall Browns by Paul Fenn on the east Cornwall coast on 26th March.
