I've not found a great deal of information on aberrant
Green Hairstreak in either Russwurm's
Aberrations of British Butterflies or from the archives in the Cockayne Collection. However
Callophyrs rubi is not exactly known for aberrants, so therefore let me quote Russwurm -
"The only variation of the upperside recorded is a slight bleaching or ochreous colouring on the outer halfs of the wings. The beautiful green underside may occasionally be brownish and it is then known as ab.
brunnea Tutt. I would therefore think that this individual rightly qualifies for that title.
This individual shows decidedly beige to brown or ochreous as Russwurm describes it, this individual was photographed on May 5th (2014) at
Swellshill Bank on Rodborough Common, Near Stroud in Gloucestershire.
