Well, I guess Dave was logged in to post his message! Not sure what's going on there! Alternatively, you may already have voted a while back!

Cheers,

Well since I haven't yet joined BC you could almost I didn't join because this site is so good. I will join this year once only the medical problems clear up. Only reason I didn't join last year was I wan't to join before the season so I could get to know people beforehand. The only other question is which branch to join, Gloucestershire or West Midlands.

Hi Dave - sorry to hear about the medical problems. Anyway - don't see this website as a substitute for BC - they provide organised field trips, provide a quarterly magazine, and the branches also provide their own reports. On the subject of the latter, you can join as many branches as you like. I personally belong to 2.

Cheers,

- Pete

Didn't think I had voted before either but as I can't now I must have! I have been a member of BC for ages but have to say that this site (UK Butterflies) is where I spend most of my time on the web.

Well done Pete for a great site.

I'm a late starter too, Susie. I've been a member of the Avon Wildlife Trust for a while already, but having met a couple of BC members around the reserves this year I had to join BC as well.

Yes it did...

I did a speight of serious (fee earning photography) back in the 80s and it was then that my initial interest in butterflies started but after a couple of bad years and with the onset of digital I packed up for nearly 15 years.

Got a digi compact in 2003 when it all kicked off again but as you all know these are worthless - press the shutter a wait!!!!

The SLR arrived as a retirement pressie in 2006 so it is from here that it all counts for me - a complete novice. One thing life is so much easier now with this site - it all used to be word of mouth when I started in Oxford.

Joined BC after meeting Maurice.....

I got interested in Butterflies by seeing different BF land in my garden when I arrived back from abroad where I'd lived for ten years this was in the 80's . I didn't buy a computer until the 90's when I found your web site, I really knew nothing much about them (still learning)so you could say you've broaded my horizons :D so my answer his yes Goldie :D
