April Fool? - definitely

Post by zigzag_wanderer »

My wife got me hook, line and sinker on Tuesday.

She made a moth out of paper, coloured it and stuck it up high by the kitchen clock on Monday night, knowing I'd see it early Tuesday morning when checking the time.

For those interested, she chose Tiliacea citrago (Orange Sallow) as the base moth, but made it larger to make sure I noticed it and went a bit free-form with its colouration.

When I got home from work it was still in the same spot (natch) so I duly went upstairs to get the small clear tupperware container we use to extricate spiders and insects. I stood on a chair, put said tupperware item over the moth and slid a piece of paper under. It was only when the moth repeatedly refused to budge that the cruel reality suddenly dawned on me - once again I'd been done up like a kipper via a red herring or in this case a paper moth.

Fair play, that was a good one! I'd have been taken in, no doubt.
