Winter social 2024

Post by bugboy »

As we bask in an Indian summer the last Saturday of November is only about 10 weeks away so time to deposit the date in everyone's memory, its the 30th this year. The Old Forge is still there so if you want to drop by from noon onwards, we normally occupy the seats just to the right inside the entrance.

It might pay to give them a call and 'book' the table as last year they got a bit funny when I turned up sying something about 'I'LL move a few other people round' :? ...however when 8-10 people rocked up and spent most the day eating and drinking they seemed to cheer up

Have a goodun

I gave them a call tonight and I've reserved a table on 30th November, from opening time under the name 'UK Butterflies'...hopefully it's our usual one but I found remembering the floor plan a little tricky...

Unfortunately Saturday November 30th is also the date of the Sussex Butterfly Conservation AGM and Members Day :(

I believe it was the same date last year so I will ask the organisers of the Sussex BC AGM if they could pick another date next year.

I wish I could join you. Minnie and I had a great time on the only occasion we were able to get there. It was very special to meet in person people I'd only known before online.

Sadly, we’re not going to make it this year, as it’s my weekend to work.

But I hope you all have a very nice time tomorrow.

A modest turnout this year but good to catch up with a few familiar faces. We talked about moving the venue next year, further east into west Sussex, stay tuned. I'll also try and make sure it doesn't coincide with any of the local AGM's

Thanks for organising it Paul (well, starting this thread!), and Wurzel for booking a table for us.

I really enjoyed having a good old natter and look forward to another meet-up next year!

Cheers,

Yes, a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon in pleasant company away from their normal habitat! :) Good to see you all. :)
