Interesting Erebia

One of the group who was with me on Col d'Izoard in early July has sent me this image. This was taken at approx 2,300m altitude.

Anyone any suggestions/comments?

It looks like a Silky Ringlet ( Erebia gorge)

I can't claim this as a 'lifer' as I didn't see it, but useful to know that it's up there for future reference.

I agree. In Switzerland, as Roger notes on his page, silky ringlet usually has two apical spots on the forewing. But it is a very variable butterfly even here and there are many other alpine forms. The closest I've seen to no spots is this one:

Thank you, Guy. Hope your return to Switzerland goes well. 'Normal Padfield' is something I look forward to a great deal. I'm well aware of what has kept it from us these last few months.
