I have a handful of pyrgus I'd like a little assistance with from my recent visit to Picos de Europa in NW Spain.
First of all, an image from the high plateau (about 2,000m) above the cable car at Fuente Dé:
The uppermost is lavatherae but the others appear to be the same species. I'm not seeing any serious indicators that any are serratulae, so I'm minded to conclude they are all alveus.
The next two were seen at around 1,100m. Anyone see anything other than armoricanus?
And the final one is from around 900m, which I feel is alveus, but could equally be serratulae:

Re: Spanish pyrgus for ID
Hi David
I love the challenges of identifying pyrgus species!
I'd agree with your ID choices on the first, second and third photos.
My strong feeling for the fourth photo is serratulae.
Hope this helps!
Best Wishes

Re: Spanish pyrgus for ID
Cheers, Paul. An underside would have been definitive but as you know, these are not always possible.
