About two years ago I set a challenge to photograph every single U.K butterfly species so far I've photographed around 27 species so I still have a lot to do
Haha, that all depends on where you live. For most people it would probably be the Mountain Ringlet but you could also say the Cryptic Wood White. Of course if you live in the north of Scotland then the Glanville Fritillary could be considered as difficult!
I've never seen any of those butterflies, at least I was able to see the Duke of Burgundy earlier this year, so far thats probably the hardest butterfly I've seen yet this little patch roped off a gait barrows near the green shed, at least they are territorial so if you see one flitting around it'll probably return to that patch.
Thanks bugboybugboy wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 6:45 pm Hi, you Fritillary is a Dark Green. High Browns are extremely rare and only found on a handful of sites in the UK. Unless you're in the craggy Cumbrian hills to the north of Morcambe Bay, South Wales or North Devon it will be a Dark Green. Also your Skipper is a Large Skipper, the faint mottling rules out the other 'golden' skippers around this time of year.
Agreed. They're so different from anything else in the UK butterfly landscape.Butterflyboy wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 6:44 pm My favorite butterfly is probably the marbled white lovely patterns
