dark blue velvet
Seen flying yesterday. Apologies if it's obvious to others - this is my first post and I haven't found it in my simplified guide. The colour was darker and more velvety in tone in real life. It was taken in central Scotland on a former coal slag heap (or 'bing' as we call them). There were small blues, small coppers and ringlets in association.

Thankyou, It was the lack of rings and the blue velvetness that threw us. There were other ringlets present in the vicinity that accorded with the illustration in our guide i.e. russet with rings and a whitish border. A quick internet search has indicated variability. Well we'll know next time! Thanks again
