Blue Butterflies

Post by SDVB »

Hi

All of the following butterflies were photographed late last August at Martin Down in Hampshire.

I cannot workout which are Common Blue or Brown Argus. And I suspect that there may be an Adonis or Chalkhill.

Any help with positive IDs would be welcome

I'll have a bit of a stab at these! However, I thoroughly expect to be corrected along the line...

1. Adonis (m)
2. Adonis (m)
3 - 5 Brown Argus
6. Adonis (m?)
7. Chalkhill (m?) ?
8. Chalkhill (m)
9. Brown Argus
10. Chalkhill (?)
11. Chalkhills
12. Brown Argus (?) (f)

Cheers,

Dave

I agree with these IDs, with the proviso that there are one or two chalkhills I couldn't swear weren't Adonis (7 for example).
