Oh go on then. Hesperidae wins this time. It was a hard one as I have several likely candidates, including a pair of courting silver spotted skippers and a field full of Adonis Blues. But I went for the 'sex on a finger' shot of a pair of mating Dingy Skippers in the end - avert thy eyes

This extraordinary display is of a pair of dark green fritillaries that were mobbed by three other individuals whilst they were mating. So there are five butterflies in this tangle. Taken last year at Velvet Bottom, Somerset, with Canon S3 plus 500D close up lens.
