Not famous enough! It was a lovely little section of the show but Pete's appearance was tantalisingly brief! We need more Pete on telly!

Ha! I liked being called an "enthusiastic pilgrim" though! Seems they included the tips on distinguishing male and female too, when they asked me how to tell the two apart! Nice piece.

Re: The Famous Mr Eeles
I have done a bit of "spring watch" in the summer !
I am still finding a few Peacock Butterflies which I assume have overwintered? I filmed one nectaring on fresh bramble blossom on 1st June, probably not a scarce event yet (1st June) but interesting locally, I think. Here is the link:

The above clip is only about 5 seconds long
best wishes,
Philip

You've got a way to go to beat me though Pete. 16 million people viewed strictly come dancing's result show when I was on air for a nanosecond

Re: The Famous Mr Eeles
My wife and I with two of our children won a family quiz in 1998 on Meridian TV called "Relative Knowledge". Low budget and probably instantly forgettable but my wife was the star - I have tried to persuade her to try for "Who wants to be a Millionaire?" but without success.

Tom Prescott from BC Scotland spent a day (or was it a day & a half?) with them & had all his shots cut ...

Yes - they were with Tom the day after I saw them. Given that Tom is the region's expert on Chequered Skipper, I find it very surprising indeed that they didn't get the "inside track" on BC's CS survey, progress to date, trends, challenges etc. etc. I guess that good science doesn't always mean good telly, and vice-versa. An opportunity missed, I'd say.ScottD wrote:Tom Prescott from BC Scotland spent a day (or was it a day & a half?) with them & had all his shots cut ...
Perhaps we should start ukbutterflies.tv

This doesn't surprise me. Given the errors the BBC has made in many of its butterfly articles, one can only conclude that they think they know best.Pete Eeles wrote: Yes - they were with Tom the day after I saw them. Re: The Famous Mr Eeles
I shouted out 'There's Peter Eeles', but as soon as I saw him he had gone! Still I can always wind the TV back just to be extra sure! Great to see you north of the border with the Chequered Skippers.
