Here is the opportunity to post your favourite photo(s) of a particular species taken in 2012 (or the last time you saw one!).
This is part of a series of topics which will grow over 20 weeks throughout the winter until all 59 UK species have been covered. The intention is to showcase three species per week (in alphabetical order), so please wait until a topic has been opened by me for a particular species before posting photos. Our overseas friends are very welcome to fill in the obvious gaps relating to rare UK migrants.
Details of locations, dates, times and circumstances would be welcome and please feel free to contribute observations of behaviour, stories of personal encounters, anecdotes or other interesting points.

Dingy Skipper
This was taken in mid May at Middleton Down. It was a new site for me and one I visited on my quest for the Green Hairstreak. This cracking little butterfly was compensation for a number of incidents throughout the day; almost ripping the chasis off my car on the journey there, not actually finding a single Green Hairstreak all day and also getting stung by bees from the hive at the entrance to the reserve! But it was all worth it for finding this little charming chappy and his chums and I sent an enjoyable hour or so drinking coffee watching and waiting for them to come close enough to me for photographs. Have a goodun

On a poor day in early May I decided that butterflies were not likely to be seen so went looking for Early Spider Orchids in the Downs behind Brighton. The sun then came out long enough to wake a few species up. This Dingy Skipper was my first and best of the year and was one of the highlights of a brilliant day with the orchids, whinchats and my first Wall of the year also seen.

I found some very brightly marked individuals on a visit to Crog Hill, near Lambourn, on the Oxon/Berks border. This one really doesn't deserve the name 'Dingy' Skipper.

The first of the year was one of my favourites - at Noar Hill on April 22nd, when the main target was Duke of Burgundy. This individual was out and about much earlier in the morning than the Dukes, flying when the temperature was still only 11 or 12 degrees.

not by any means my best dingy of the year, but this one is special as it was the first record shot of my first and so far only garden record of Dingy skipper. I saw something unusal fluttering around the garden, when it landed by the pond and i saw what it was it was a mad dash for the camera. i was chuffed to bits.
