Is the Dark-Veined white a subspecies of GV white or is own species?
Is the Alcon Blue and Large Blue the same butterfly or just related? They act in very similar ways.

Yes - different species. Although it is worth being aware that there are "lumpers" and "splitters" in the world
"Lumpers" like to combine species, and "splitters" split them. Which is why the taxonomy of most living things changes now and again as more research is done. Real's Wood White is a case in point.
