Thank you, Kipper. Commentaries like this add a lot to the competition, especially for the also-rans like me!! Your time and carefully considered words are much appreciated.

Re: April 2009 votes
I'm not sure how I should follow all that, but many thanks for you kind comments Neil.Gwenhwyfar: Only 4 votes?! One was mine and to me, the winner by a mile! With reference to earlier comments about backgrounds (see Pete Eeles), this is the effect I would hope to achieve, were I a DSLR user. I could write an essay on why this is so good, but this critique is taking long enough as it is. What it does illustrate (IMO), is that even with top-of-the-range gear and the technical know-how to use it, there will always be an additional element required in producing the very best shots – and Lisa has it. ‘Seeing the shot’ would be a simplistic way of putting it. In the same way you can teach someone the basics of how to paint in watercolour, but you can’t teach someone how to become a good artist. Only 4 votes?!
I'm a bit skint this week, i'll send the cheque the week after!

Re: April 2009 votes
Thanks Sussex Kipper for the comments, I don't have time to comment so I am not going to now. That was the first white I photographed this year, but I did not like it too much.
Gwenhwyfar one of those votes was mine, I thought it was very good, nice way to see a Grizzled Skipper.
I also voted for FISHiEE and Art Frames. FISHiEE I thought your OT was sharp and clear and had a nice background on that did not distract you from the subject, wish I had got an OT shot that good, its not that easy getting close to them thats for sure!
I liked Art Frames, seems only one other person did. I can see its not the best shot, but I just liked it because it was showing behaviour in OTs and I guess in April I loved OTs
I can't remember what photo Guy had on first before the Scarce Swallowtail, but I liked it more than the swallowtail to be honest.
