Mrs Carol McNaughton sent me the following email:
"Saw a beautiful and unusual butterfly at work on Weds 16/08/06 - looked at your website, am convinced it was a Camberwell Beauty. Dark chocolate brown with quite a deep and well defined creamy-white border to the bottom of the wings. Didn't notice any blue spots, though.
Seen in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, next to a busy road on our industrial estate. There is a steep bank of grass outside our large office block, with large clumps of lavender on it. The only trees nearby are silver birch, pines, cypress (the dreaded leylandii!), rowan, crab apples and eucalyptus. The butterfly just rested on the grass for a few minutes with its wings spread out and much to my regret flew off. Just thought I'd let you know as your site says it's a migrant."
Cheers,
- Pete

Rob Parker posted the following note on the UK-leps forum:
Here is an update on Camberwell Beauty records for Suffolk:
8/7 Nr Theberton (visitor report, details awaited)
21/7 Tattingstone (predating most of the Dutch sightings)
4/8 Theberton Woods
8/8 Minsmere (visitor report)
14/8 Ipswich, Castle Hill allotments (moved by hand/cane)
15/8 Ipswich, garden near Bixley
17/8 Minsmere/Sizewell (captured/photographed/displayed)
17/8 Benacre Broad (photographed)
The first few were fleeting, unphotographed. Interestingly, in the same time-frame, two CB records for 2005 have come to light.
The invasion of CB in the Netherlands produced 92 sightings in the course of a few days, and the flow is believed to have come from Scandinavia.
Dutch Butterfly Conservation are updating at:

Camberwell Beauty
We saw a Camberwell Beauty in our garden in Brentwood, Essex today. It rested on our house wall for about an hour.

Excellent news. I'm so jealous!
A simple request - could you please ensure that these rare sightings are sent to the appropriate Butterfly Conservation branch? Many thanks. Such records are extremely rare and we want to get the best picture we can of sightings. You'll need to send grid/postcode references + date.
The various branches are listed at:

Camberwell Beauty in Margate!
Hi.
Sighted one on our allotment in Margate this affy. Did not have a kiss- me-quick hat on though.
What a fabulous sight. Not seen one before.
It stayed around for ages.
Just found your site and thought I should post this news.
