Lulworth Skipper - Favourite Photo of 2024
Week 10
“Ohh oh we’re half way there…” and fast approaching the Solstice too so it seems appropriate to start this weeks’ threads with the sun kissed Lulworth Skipper; a little light in the darkness of mid-winter.
Please could I ask that everyone waits until a topic has been opened by me for a particular species before posting photos as then it will be easier to keep track of things? Of course our overseas members are very welcome to fill in the obvious gaps relating to rare UK migrants. As in previous years details of locations, dates, times and circumstances would be welcome as would any accompanying stories and anecdotes or other observations of behaviour and interesting other points.

Lulworth Skipper
I was lucky enough to make two visits to Lulworth this year but both of my Faves came from the first trip. The first was a contender as it was a Trouser shot, the first that I’ve got for this species. The second because not only was it in very good condition but it was also feasting on an orchid, a welcome addition to another one of my ‘collections’. Have a goodun

Saw plenty in Europe throughout the year but can't be bothered to screw my macro lens on for them.
I made an exception for very close relative, Canary Skipper, in Tenerife in March though:

To say it was a tad breezy down at Durlston Country Park on my annual pilgrimage to see them would be a bit of an understatement. As a result pictures were rather difficult to get. This female isn't too bad though.
