Please note that, over the winter, various "themes" will be given for the competition. You may choose any photo you have so long as it's relevant to the theme (and is not restricted to photos taken during the month in question)! December theme is Up close and personal.

To enter the competition, please post a single image (1 post per member) as follows:
- Click on the "Photo Gallery" link
- Click the "Upload" tab
- Select the relevant album (i.e. December 2008) in the "Upload to:" field
- Follow the instructions
To view the entries:
- Click on the "Photo Gallery" link
- Click on the relevant album (i.e. December 2008) link that is in the "Photo Competitions" Album
You'll be able to change (delete, followed by add, until this is fixed!) your entry until 5th January.
Please refrain from making comments about the entries until the competition has been voted on. Comments and constructive critique are very welcome thereafter.

We don't allow pics of captive breed specimens into the open comps, but I think we should be a bit more relaxed about the out of season themed comps.

The technique is very simple. Shoot 100 and discard 99.

Well! Pete's advice was good with the last comp, get the size to 800x800, so I've done a bit better by crop a little at a time and then resize it to as big as it will go and then crop a little more and so on and so on. Put it on the comp page and if it blends in its ok, if it sticks out like a sore thumb it gets delated, all this back and for will go on when all you lot are in bed.
I seem to have got a lot of bottom first photos, well most folks have gone for the eye, if it was a comp for the most beautiful wings I've got loads of those photos.

I'm surprised you find resizing so complicated, Shirley. I crop my image to produce a pleasing picture first, then resize so that the longer edge is 800 pixels.
