Katrina
Re: Katrina
Thanks David, I only saw a couple so lucky I stuck with it when I found it basking getting ready to roost.
Small Blue Thing
This morning I went to Kithurst it was initially cool and windy but warmed up later.
I saw one Small Blue, Some Common Blues, Dingy Skippers, a Cinnabar moth, a Red Admiral , a Speckled Wood, 2 Green Hairstreaks and some Caterpillars. My sister used an app which suggested Emperor Moth caterpillars - can anyone confirm?

Re: Katrina
Thank you Wurzel. I wasn’t sure if it was a bit silly and I should stick with the main subject in hand.
Re: Katrina
Beautifully posed Small Blue, Katrina. This is a butterfly I struggle with from a photography perspective.
Re: Katrina
Great find with those Emperor moth larva Katrina. They become really handsome cats.
Re: Katrina
Thank you Pauline , saw quite a few on the same plant.
Thank you David, lucky it stayed still

Since you were kind enough to read my diary - I thought I'd take a look at yours. Now THAT pic of the PBF roosting is what I tried to capture today but had no luck and I went early on purpose to do it.
And its amazing what you find out about people on this site isn't it? Another Suzanne Vega fan!

Re: Katrina
Thanks Ernie,
Got it on my second try I think. Found it basking and waited for it to close up.

Re: Katrina
I went to Mill Hill this evening, Hoping for a nice basking Adonis Blue. It was not to be but I did see my first large skipper of the year
I saw some Adonis but they weren't in the posing mood. Also seen were some whites, Brimstones one Meadow Brown and plenty of Small Heath.

Re: Katrina
Thanks David, it was roosting time - sometimes they seem to bask more than others pre-roosting I find.
Park Corner Heath
This morning I went for a haircut. I stopped at a public toilet on the way and was surprised to find multiple moths including a Cinnabar, Alder moth and Ash bud. I went on after to Park Corner Heath I did not see any fritillaries but found some Large Skippers, Meadow Browns , Small Heaths a Dingy Skipper and a pollen covered Black and Yellow Longhorn Beetle. There were also dozens and dozens of dragonflies flying over the big pond
Re: Katrina
Shame you didn't find any SPBF at Park Corner.
As far as I know none have been seen at all by anyone.

Re: Katrina
Yes, it was a shame . A sighting was posted of a SPBF on 3rd June at Park Corner Heath on the Sussex Website.
Iping and Stedham Common
I took a trip there today. The road at Midhurst is closed so had to stop and work out another way there.
I didn't find any SSBs until well after 11. Eventually found 8 males and one female (couldn't get a photo of the female too far away)
I found some caterpillars - does anyone know what they are?
Thank you to the 2 gentleman who found the Golden-ringed dragonfly pair.
