The wonder of the world, the beauty and the power, the shapes of things, their colours lights and shades, these I saw. Look ye also while life lasts.

Re: 2023 - Large Tortoiseshell
It's worth pointing out that the Large Tortoiseshell images posted from Horseshoe Plantation (Beachy Head) on 7 April (Danny McEvoy and Paul Stevens) and 6 April (James W) comprise at least two individuals (males).
Also, a nice male in Abbot's Wood (Hailsham) on 7 April by Bob Eade and Lisa Saw - as yet to hit the web pages.
BWs, Neil

Re: 2023 - Large Tortoiseshell
Fourth record in seven days for the Isle of Wight! A faded specimen photographed at Carisbrooke on 10/04/2023.
Re: 2023 - Large Tortoiseshell
For all this year's reports so far, I haven't seen one that's spanned two days. Is that likely to be the lack of a return visit from the original finder, and no follow-up from anyone, or is this species notoriously "in and out?"
