Scotch Argus -Erebia aethiops
The Scotch Argus generally is the last Butterfly on the wing in the Uk and my last trip to the Lake District. (
This year puts me on 55 species) I always head to Smardale, Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria as I've had some amazing days there, literally 100's rising for the grass, with the viaduct pictured above and views of the nearby fells, It can't get much better.

Arnside in Cumbria is another great site but normally a bit busier, than Smardale.
2017 is the year in which I did all the UK 59, but finding someone to tell on Arnside proved harder! The only woman I came across, must have thought I was a nutter as I was grinning and whooping

She just stared blankly at me as I told her my story, she quickly descended from the summit and I could hear a wheel spinning car! O well I was happy

Creag Meagaidh, Scottish Highlands 03/08/2020
We hired a Camper van just after lockdown and had a fantastic trip doing the NC500. We dropped into Creag Meagaidh, only to hear I was too early, I didn't wanna hear that and decided to explore anyway. I found a few fresh 'Scottish' Argus in the long grasses around the site. a bonus, great to find the ranger and tell him the good news
