Purple emperor?

Purple emperor?

Sorry; only have underwing photo. SEEK app identifies this as purple emperor but wanted confirmation as that would be a new one for me round here (South Norfolk) (and I don't trust apps much!). Caught a glimose of upperwing as it flew off and it did look a lot like a female purple emperor.

Hello Long retired ,Yes definately an Emperor ,didn,t realise they were found in South Norfolk but i believe they are now seen at a couple of sights in the North of the county (Sheringham park ?) ...............Nice find !

Thanks - I had heard of them in North Norfolk but never round here (right on Norfolk/Suffolk border. Should i report it to anyone?

It may be worth reporting to Butterfly Conservation Norfolk (and Suffolk ? not sure ) branch ,could be a known site but either way i,m sure they,d be happy to recieve your record .
