It looks pretty basic and easy to use, both of which I like. How about some thumbnails in the database? I can instantly relate say Zygaenidae to burnets, but without pictures the more obscure family names are meaningless to me. The thumbnails on UKMoths are an example of how this layout can be really useful : )

I found it easy enough to navigate, but I would have liked to see some more pictures, there a lack of them there I feel.

Thank you for all of your comments so far, it's nice to hear your views whether positive or negative.
With respect to the number of photos on the site, there are around 250 covering the 186 species on the site at the moment. As I'm a working man and this is just a hobby for me I ask you all to be a little patient, as I'm uploading as many as I can as quickly as I can. It takes quite a time to edit the photographs and write the descriptions in English and French for each species. The really time consuming part comes early next year as I upload all the distribution maps!

One thing that you might consider is navigation. It think it would be useful if the current "tree" would be visible during database navigation - preferably with the option to return back to any earlier level. Now one only has the option of going back step by step or re-starting from beginning.
