Pupa Identification

Post by heatherbell »

Found this yesterday but cannot identify.
Maybe just a strange colour morph of a common species (perhaps Nymphalidae, perhaps Vanessa sp.) but would love to know what it is.
If anybody could help, much appreciated.
Grassy, uncultivated meadow in Cornwall.

Hi Heather, that's one of the colour forms of the Painted Lady pupa.

Thank you for taking the time to confirm.
The form and shape said V. cardui to me but the colour did not!
