Found about 100 catapillars on a small patch of nettles this morning. I think they're Peacock. Can someone with more knowledge than me confirm, or give another species.

Yes they are Peacock, the velvety black with white speckles and redish prolegs are diagnostic.
Some addictions are good for the soul!
