Scotch Argus - Favourite Photo of 2020
Week 14
Not long to go now – the first wave of emergences seems to kick off in mid-February – so fingers crossed and eyes peeled!
Please could I ask that everyone waits until a topic has been opened by me for a particular species before posting photos as then it will be easier to keep track of things? Of course our overseas members are very welcome to fill in the obvious gaps relating to rare UK migrants. As in previous years details of locations, dates, times and circumstances would be welcome as would any accompanying stories and anecdotes or other observations of behaviour and interesting other points.
Just a reminder - it might be a good idea to start selecting your Overall Favourite Butterfly Photo of 2020 now as we’re starting to draw to the grand finale.
Have a goodun and stay safe

Re: Scotch Argus - Favourite Photo of 2020
A couple of days in Lancashire gave me the opportunity to catch up with this species at Arnside Knott. Many thanks to David M for pointing me in the right direction in finding my 50th British butterfly.
Re: Scotch Argus - Favourite Photo of 2020
Managed to visit my favourite spot out at Cambus o May on Deeside on 7th August. Even as I parked up and stepped out of the car these beautiful butterflies were in abundance. All photos were taken on that day.
Re: Scotch Argus - Favourite Photo of 2020
Glad you got to see them, Stevie.
Let me guess the 9 you have left - Cryptic Wood White, Chequered Skipper, Northern Brown Argus, Swallowtail, Glanville Fritillary, High Brown Fritillary,Heath Fritillary, Black Hairstreak & Large Heath?
Re: Scotch Argus - Favourite Photo of 2020
Must be psychic!

If you want High Brown Fritillary then let me know. There's a site near Bridgend where you'll find plenty.
Re: Scotch Argus - Favourite Photo of 2020
My August visit to Smardale (and Arnside) allowed me to see good numbers of this species in a beautiful part of the world. I have recently posted some of the better photos in my diary review of 2020, so it seems a bit OTT to do so again. However, one I didn't post was this one of a female egg-laying.
