We've reached that time of the season when the butterflying days are becoming fewer and further between and whilst there are still butterflies to be seen the variety is declining and the numbers are starting to dwindle. This means that it's time to start looking back over 2020 butterfly wise so that you can select your favourite shot(s) for the 'Favorite Photo of...' threads which start next week. As in previous years I'll post 3 species a week (occasionally four

Remember when choosing your photos for the individual species posts that they can be shots of any stage of the butterfly's life cycle. Also keep in mind the Grand Finale in February - the 'Overall Favourite Butterfly Photo'. I generally choose this first before starting on the whittling down at species level

To allow the process to run smoothly could I please ask that everyone waits until a topic has been opened by me for a particular species before posting photos? Overseas members are very welcome of course to fill in the obvious gaps relating to rare UK migrants. As per usual, details of locations, dates, times and circumstances would be welcome as would any accompanying stories and anecdotes or other observations of behaviour and interesting other points.
Hopefully you'll enjoy looking back on 2020 even though for obvious reasons it has been unique...
Have a goodun and stay safe
