Hi guys,
I was wondering whether any of you knew what this is?
No idea whether its a Moth/Butterfly in a silk cocoon or just a spiders egg sac.
Appeared in the last 4 days.
Thanks,
J

Re: Cocoon ID please
I'd suggest that this is a moth cocoon, with the pupa and old larval skin visible. And I suspect it was a hairy larva, whose hairs are now trapped in the silk. No idea which species though!

Thanks Allan, I agree with Pete as well
. That being the case, caution should be exercised in order to avoid touching or breathing in the hairs as they may cause irritation or an allergic reaction.

My guess is a male Vapourer moth cocoon.
