I've enhanced the albums on the main website to include photos/videos of habitat (and have just uploaded a batch of photos), which then get 'pulled in' to the species pages (in the habitat section). If you have any items you'd like to see included then please include the following information.
1. For each photo, please let me know the species, site and any associated description (if needed).
2. For each video, please let me know the Youtube link (we do not host videos directly), the species and site (if not obvious).
3. Send the items to me at pete@ukbutterflies.co.uk.
If sending over a large batch of photos, then please use WeTransfer (https://wetransfer.com).
Please note that this facility is for habitats, and not sites, since a single site may contain a number of different habitats.
Ta muchly!
Cheers,
- Pete

Re: Habitat photos / videos
Videos
Hello Pete, thanks for the updates. Thank you for hosting youtube video links, previously.
I thought that new videos added could be categorised under:
Butterfly Species,
Habitat (Landscape with related flora and butterfly species)
Location (Site specific or even County specific)
Food Plant (latin name). Nectar source or caterpillar food plant.
or be Author specific
It was interesting that youtube recently upgraded. There was more recently a tick box to state that new content would be suitable for children (all of my videos were, as far as I was aware).
My videos to a degree were personal and independently thought and there might have needed to have been something like:
"views expressed in this video are of the author and not necessarily the views expressed by UK Butterflies"
More recently i returned to the website to look for a "Finding white Admiral Larvae" video to show someone, but could not find it, so I hope that an easy quick link to the videos can be found by me soon,
Kind Regards

Re: Habitat photos / videos
Hi Philip - and thanks for the feedback, which is much appreciated! Some comments below.
BTW - I've just realised that your last 2 videos weren't added ... they're now at:

Cheers,

They already are. However, rather than photos and videos being treated differently with 2 sets of albums, I've merged them into single 'media' albums. Who knows - there may be other media down the line (e.g. Podcasts) that we could also add, and I didn't want to create yet another set of albums. So ... from now on ... we have one set of albums with all media.PhilBJohnson wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 11:08 pm I thought that new videos added could be categorised under ...
Butterfly Species,
I had a long think about this and (having now written my book) have come to the conclusion that habitat is most meaningfully described when talking about a particular species, since there are often subtle differences in the same habitat for different species.PhilBJohnson wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 11:08 pm Habitat (Landscape with related flora and butterfly species)
For these 3 items, I felt that a simple Google search was the way to go, which is exactly what we have in place.PhilBJohnson wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 11:08 pm Location (Site specific or even County specific)
Food Plant (latin name). Nectar source or caterpillar food plant.
Yes - this could be done and I'll have a think about this.
Since we don't host the videos, but simply link to them, then I don't think this is an issue.PhilBJohnson wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 11:08 pm ... there might have needed to have been something like:

That's because I screwed up ... it was under 'Imago' in the White Admiral species page, but is under 'Larva'.PhilBJohnson wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 11:08 pm More recently i returned to the website to look for a "Finding white Admiral Larvae" video to show someone, but could not find it.
