Female Common Blue or Female Adonis Blue
A butterfly that was seen in the quarries on Aggs Hill in Gloucestershire at the top of the Cotswold escarpment, fairly close to Prestbury Hill nature reserve managed by Butterfly Conservation. I am unsure if this is a female common blue or female adonis blue. I'm leaning towards common blue as the adonis blue is not often found at this site.

Common for me. There's a slight chequering on the hindwing frindge but not enough for an Adonis

I agree - this is a female common blue. In Adonis blue the chequering is broader in the outer half of the fringe than the inner, especially on the forewing, giving something of the impression of a T in close-up. In this butterfly, the chequering is restricted to the inner half of the fringe.
