The Butterflies of Britain and Ireland
I just wondered if anyone knows why The Butterflies of Britain and Ireland (J Thomas and R Lewington) was never reprinted. Its a master piece! I have a copy that my wife managed to track down a few years ago using some kind of out of print books tracking company. It took them a year to find a copy, but it's my pride and joy. Its not just a pretty book, its highly informative and a really good read too! Mark.

Hi Mark,
That's my favourite book too. Brilliantly put together. You are far from the first person to ask why it never went to reprint! If it did, I would happily buy another copy.

I said the same thing to Jeremy Thomas, and he said that the text was hopelessly out of date (mainly regarding distribution and conservation efforts). Not aware of any plans for it to be updated.
