Re: Katrina
I was in Abbots Wood yesterday, early am. Probably went home before you arrived.
The lack of Sun does have it's compensations with nice relaxed Pearls.
Lovely shots, as always. mrgreen for the one on a Bluebell
.
Trevor.

Re: Katrina
Sorry to have missed you Trevor.
I must admit I was wondering is I would see any with the cloud but it all worked out ok.

Re: Katrina
Beautiful, Katrina. Probably better to go and look for these in less than ideal conditions and you've captured some nice poses there.
Rowland Wood / Park Corner Heath
I spent the afternoon and evening out looks for Small Pearl-Bordered Fritillaries. Also seen were Speckled Woods, Small Heaths , one Common Blue , one Green Hairstreak, one Red Admiral, one Small Copper and some Brimstones.
It is always a pleasure to meet new butterfly enthusiasts and it was particularly good to see a young 4 year old enthusiast enjoying the butterflies with his family. Also good to meet Nick from Manchester who was particularly good at spotting roosting Pearls. Later also good to catch up with Trevor and Andrew.
Does anyone know what the moth is?

A great sequence of shots Katrina seeing those three individuals made me appreciate the subtle variation in the black spots near the hind wing margin -something I'd not noticed before

Re: Katrina
Lovely images, Katrina. You've done superbly with both Pearl AND Small Pearl Bordered Fritillaries this spring.

Re: Katrina
Thanks Wurzel and David. I had a lot of help finding them from Nick, Andrew and Trevor.
Re: Katrina
Beautiful shots of those Fritillaries, Katrina. I must try an early evening visit when the weather improves later in the week. I had too leave a bit too early on Thursday.
Cheers,

At a 30 min stop off at Roedean Bee Bank this evening I found 6 roosting or near roosting Small Blues. I didn't have time to check the whole site . Also found was one Common Blue.
