Couldn't post this in 'Sightings' because I couldn't be sure what I was looking at and only snapped them at a distance quickly. Is it a Brown Argus or a Common Blue? Or am I completely wrong?
Thanks for any help.
Can anyone ID from these photos?

Hi Deborah,
Have a close look at your top photo and in particular at the relative positions of the two black spots as circled in red on my photo here.
This is the key to identifying your butterly. Chris

Thanks for the tip. Here's another (just as poor) picture. I've been squinting at them for ages and I think it a Brown Argus? Does anyone with more experience (and better eyes!) agree with me? Forgot to flag that I'm in Central Brittany if that makes any difference.
Re: Can anyone ID from these photos?
Yes. I agree wholeheartedly with you, Deborah.
Re: Can anyone ID from these photos?
Thanks. It's the first I've seen here, so a great end to the season
All I need now is for a Clouded Yellow to sit still long enough for me to photograph it and I wouldn't wish for anything more this year!

Re: Can anyone ID from these photos?
Are these species all visitors to your garden, Deborah, or are you seeing them in the countryside?
Re: Can anyone ID from these photos?
Hello David. Yes they are. Have PM'd you.
