Cased Specimens

This box of cased butterflies turned up at the local recycling centre and was passed on to me. They are a mixture of British, French, Swiss and Egyptian specimens from the early part of the last century some of which are completely moth eaten while others are in quite good condition. Most have labels attached to the pins and I have taken a selection of images of the rarer British ones.

I reckon one or two of them are from a bit further afield than Egypt! (The couple in the top left in the first picture)

Indeed - those two are from South America (Perisama sp. and one of the many blue Theclinae from that part of the world).

I hope all these insects find peace now they are in your loving hands, Owen!
