Would someone comment on this photo, first thoughts were
Meadow Brown (Maniola jurtina) but could it be a Dusky Meadow Brown (Hyponephele lycaon),

I note H lycaon is listed on the
Inventaire des rhopalocères du CHAMPSAUR (HAUTES ALPES) 163 species recorded.

Dusky meadow brown it is (male). The neat dark line inside the forewing margin is the giveaway.

Yes, yes, yes. This is unashamedly a Dusky Meadow Brown as Guy has pointed out, and a very nice image to boot.
No jurtina I've seen has a black upper forewing submarginal line like that and the hindwing undersides are not at all like the normal Meadow Brown.
