Hi Folks,
I know we have some very knowledgeable people out there who could put a name to these insects without even opening a book.
I have friends who would like to know what these 3 insects are and whether they are associated.
Thanks, Chris

Re: Some IDs please
Hi Chris,
First one may be a Pine Hawkmoth, but I'm not convinced...
second one I think is a Convolvulus Hawkmoth
Third looks like a Lime Hawkmoth cat, (they turn this pinky/purple colour when ready to pupate)

Thanks Buggy,
That's a very good start and will allow me to check those species out on the Web.
Cheers, Chris

Re: Some IDs please
Both of the moths look like Convolvulus to me.

You may be right, Roger, if we try and ignore the lighting difference and image the wings closed, they could be one and the same.Roger Gibbons wrote:Both of the moths look like Convolvulus to me.

Re: Some IDs please
Both moths are 'Convolvulus Hawk-moth' and the caterpillar is a 'Lime Hawk-moth' prior to pupation.

Hi Chris,
If you were in the UK I'd be confident in saying it's Helcystogramma rufescens: http://mothdissection.co.uk/species.php ... _rufescens
However bearing in mind where you are there maybe confusion species.
