As for your copy, Martin, I suggest you contact Brambleby Books, if you haven't already.

It's arrived!!!!
Only had a chance for a brief skip through, but it seems fabulous.
I am now having to go back through loads of photos to re-caption!!
I have only spotted one amendment requirement so far-
p183 Flight period of Hamearis should now read "rarely second brood late summer" or something.

I guess we all need to see what this year brings before we assume that the Duke of Burgundy has partial second broods, and whether the Noar Hill sightings were a freak occurrence!
I've also spotted what I believe is another error. p.326 - The names "Northern Brown Argus" and "Brown Argus" are the wrong way round - since the Brown Argus is double-brooded, whereas the Northern Brown Argus isn't.
Cheers,
- Pete

I've just bought (and have started to read) Adrian's other book - Arrivals and Rivals. Although the book (2nd edition) is focused on birds, it does end with Adrian discussing his exploits to see all of the British Butterflies species, subspecies and forms. I have to say that - for those of us who have attempted to see all of the butterfly species in a year (I did once!) - it makes a really compelling read since the challenges of pursuing our quarry are not that different from birding! Of course, it's focused on birds, but it's well-written and I recommend this book too!
And "no" - I'm not on a commission
Cheers,

Re: Adrian Riley's new book
ok, finally got the book. It is quite good, thought I must say the paper quality used could be a little better. Other than tat, and the slight mistakes, its very good

Re: Adrian Riley's new book
Does anyone know the difference between
Arrivals and Rivals - A Birding Oddity: A Year of Competitive Twitching. and
Arrivals and Rivals: A Duel for the Winning Bird, both by Adrian M Riley.
I know that the first book was published in 2004 and the second in 2007 but is there any difference in actual text or is it just a reprinted version?
Thanks
Denise

Re: Adrian Riley's new book
The 2007 version has a chapter on Adrian's butterfly exploits, and I also believe there are more colour photos.
