Mixed butterfly species pairings are seen infrequently, but it's highly unusual to find a butterfly mating with a moth. In this case a male Small White with a Brimstone moth. Photographed by MaryAnne on 14th August and reported on Twitter

A second generation Silver-studded Blue was photographed in Cornwall on 25th August. Reported on the Cornwall Branch BC Twitter feed.

Two sightings of Monarch have been reported by BC Scotland this month on the west coast - the first near Oban and the second on Islay.

I believe there is good reason to assume the first was from a wedding release, and so presumably the second was also.

The sooner this practice is stopped the better, especially when the butterflies are non-native ones.
