I haven't seen the usual rush of reports from Fermyn Woods this year. Are the Purple Emperors out there yet, does anyone know? Northants BC site seems to imply not yet.

Hi,
I have never been to Fermyn Woods but I will be very interested in numbers reported at different locations. Some have suggested that predation rates have been high due to a mild winter and spring (compared to last year).
Is the early emergence of adult butterflies at Bookham Common, Surrey before the longest day a positive sign that the species is prepared to increase its range further north in the UK?
Best Wishes.
