Wurzel perhaps we should invent a word for moth pee. I don’t know how trustworthy my internet search is but have read they do t pee but can expel excess fluid.
Bugboy certainly is in an out.
Thank you Dave it was a bit of a random finding as I was cropping photos.
Thanks Trevor, I have been able to get out too few times and seen too few people so good to catch up.

Whatever you decide to call it, Katrina, it is an extraordinary shot. I have never seen that before.

Longshot Lancing Long-tailed Blue on Log!

Post by Katrina »

I went to Lancing this morning. It was chilly when I arrived and at one point I could see my breath.
Later it warmed up and Paul arrived shortly followed by the long-tailed blue and then Lindsay.
I saw 2 long-tailed blues before I had to go . Also seen were Walls, Red Admirals, Speckled Woods , a Comma, a Holly Blue and a few whites

Lovely images of the Long Tailed Blue, Katrina.

Looks like the supporting cast was pretty admirable too.

Good to see you today :) . No more showed up in front of my camera after you left but the Red Admirals and Walls kept me entertained.

Thank you Wurzel, it was quite sedentary probably due to the low temp.
Thanks David - yes very good to see 3 Walks chasing each other.
Thanks Paul, good to see you too ! Thank you for you spotting skills and letting me know I hadn’t missed anymore - always frustrating to have to leave early.

A very nice LTB, Katrina - it must have been a shock for it to wake up to such low temperatures! At least that meant it opened right up to make the most of the sunshine. Great photos. :) Their wings have such amazing texture to them!

Cheers,

Dave

Book recommendation

Post by Katrina »

I was given this book at Xmas. It is fairly short and has beautiful drawings of Painted Ladies.
I learned they have ears at the base of their wings.
Quite a lot about what was known historically and now about migration.

Easter Sunday

Post by Katrina »

I went to Mill Hill this afternoon and saw Peacocks, a Brimstone, a Speckled Wood and a white I didn’t get close enough to identify.

Lovely to see Peacocks on the blackthorn blossom, Katrina.

Sounds like you had a good time there.

Wow - what a beauty. Peacocks are undoubtedly dazzling when freshly emerged but I prefer them in spring, when they’ve been toned-down to perfection by the passage of time. Yours is a great example.

That's a stunning image of a Peacock.

Lovely photo Katrina. Your reward for going out. You have to be in it to win it.
