But the website is "big" in Australia
Hmmm - not sure what's going on there. I didn't write the code that drives the forum. Perhaps all the webbots got together and had a coordinated effort to spam the site

Looking at the 'names' of the five new members registered already today, something seems to be going on

Hi Bryan - the new members have to go through a vetting process (i.e. me) before they're approved. So all of these "new members" have been removed

On an average day I get about 100 dummy subscriptions. So this, to me, is pretty normal. I'd say that half of the visits are from webbots of some kind - although it's difficult to say.
Yesterday and today, for some reason, there seems to be a "spike". I've had this happen once before when I traced it back to someone who included a UK Butterflies link on (if I recall) a CNN page.
The average number of visitors to the website at this time of year is about 2500 per day. Today it's at 4776 as I write this - so I reckon someone has linked to UK butterflies (possibly a link to a forum entry) from a well-visited website. I therefore suspect that this "spike" to drop to normal very soon!
Cheers,
- Pete

What a pain these webbots must be, Pete.
If 'they' can do it do it to you, is there no way of getting back?
I guess those of us who enjoy this site take a lot for granted.
Keep up the good work!
