Excellent numbers Saturday 2 June Wicken Wood Northants/Bucks, with sightings at frequency of about one per two minutes or better. Sometimes as many as three butterflies together.

But they were almost impossible to photograph in the hot sunshine. They never stopped (timed one male for over 5 minutes without landing). The nearest I got was a poor photo of an ovipositing female and another of courtship - antennae to antennae.

Location of greatest concentration around SP728409 but found along the main tracks from the car park at the north of the wood.
