‪Thanks Nicola, Wurzel, Lee, Kevin, Trev, Guy and David - especially for the very kind words (lots of positive feedback on Twitter and Facebook too)! I hope I’ve done the various photographers justice by providing some interesting accompanying text. I’m starting to feel that the long hard slog (i.e. research) has been worth it! :)

Cheers,

- Pete

I will be buying but as I will be away off-and-on until mid October, I wouldn't want attempted delivery if I might not be at home.
So I'll order a bit later. (hope it's not out of print by then).

Pete I have a couple of friends asking if this'll be out in paperback but I've told them it's only available in hardback. Is that right?

I'm nearing the end of the Hesperid section and already I'm loving it!

Comprehensive but not too suffocating with the science aspect and embellished with images on every page.

I like the layout too. Consistent and easy to familiarise oneself with after a few pages.

Hi Nicola - yes, it's only available in hardback, with no softback planned.

Cheers,

- Pete

What a splendid book and a tremendous reflection of the extraordinary amount of time and effort put into its creation. Congratulations on a masterpiece, Pete - I suspect it will become so well-thumbed I shall need to acquire a second copy! :)

All the very best,

Dave

Well, I've studiously avoided UKB over the weekend because my copy didn't arrive with the Saturday post! But it was waiting on the doormat this evening. What an amazing piece of work - it has come out visually beautiful and packed with information. Pete, congratulations, I hope you are very proud of it!

P.S. it has been very interesting to pick out a few other UKBers among the species sponsors, and see which species you all chose!

Well I finally got my mits on my copy (had it sent to my work address and there's no weekend delivery there) and I expected more...

I'm Joking!!!

I've flicked through it at work, and it's clear how an astonishing amount of work has gone into it, it's a good job you like butterflies! Congratulations Pete, I can see this still being referred to 100 years from now :)

Well Pete-
What a fabulous book. So comprehensive, and much much more than just life cycles.
I think my wife summed it up when she glanced over my shoulder and said "What a gorgeous book."

Cheers

Since I asked for it to be delivered to my office I wasn't expecting it until today, postie was very amused as I snatched it from his hand :D A very comprehensive reference guide. Thank you Peter for all your hard work. I did order a second copy for Imogen (Peacock), she likes to look through my butterfly books, and I'm sure she will love it too. I need a new bookcase now.

Thanks Pete, mine has now arrived (massive dent in the doormat!).
Being a reviewer of the species accounts was like going on a voyage of discovery. I thought I knew what to expect when the book was published, but the finished article has surpassed my expectations. It has come together so beautifully that I don't think that it will be surpassed until a holographic version is published in 2119.

Our copies - mine and my son Chris's - arrived on Saturday but I have not commented until now because, apart from when I have been otherwise busy, I have been glued to it and not bothered going on the internet much.

A magnificent achievement and one that will set the standard for years to come. Easy to read and yet containing a wealth of information and illustrated with some fantastic photographs, especially all the early stages.

Well done Pete.

Cheers,

Neil.

Wow! Thanks Jon, Callum, Paul, Roger, Rosalyn, Vince and Neil for the very kind comments.

I have to admit, like Vince, the book has surpassed my expectations in terms of production (which I had nothing to do with!). I mean - even the stitching (the green and white threading along the spine) is colour-coordinated with the colour theme of the book (purple and green). So I'm very happy with the whole thing to be honest!

Cheers,

- Pete

Fantastic book. Thank you for all the effort you have put into it Pete. I have enjoyed looking at the different instars of each species of caterpillar, particularly the rare species.
