That Provençal fritillary certainly gave the Scarce Swallowtail a "good kicking" :lol:

Fantastic burst of activity...
Jack & I were pondering the problems of ridiculously short and overlapping flight seasons, and so many miles to cover in the UK, to see so many species and you have it all in one day! It must be wonderful to see the whole Alps come alive.....

I'm spoilt for butterflies living here, and I do appreciate it! I just hope that when you come out, Nick, the weather smiles on us. If it does, it will be a pleasure to share this butterfly paradise with you!

Have no fear - I have visited the Alps in July and August before...(but on family holidays not for butterflies)
.....the clouds and thunderstorms could give some dramatic mountain-scapes to photograph...
...but of course there will be ideal conditions all round :wink:
