This is my first time that I've posted a photo for the competition. This Small Pearl Bordered Fritillary was photographed at Raygate Slack in North Yorkshire on 8th June. I thought I'd try something different in terms of pose. I hope you like it.
Canon 40D, Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro, Canon 580EX flash.
Cheers
Martyn

I doubt I'm going to beat this at least in june, so I might as well enter early.

Did the DGF have any problems with 6.3 degree angle of view - quite narrow for butterfly watching?

I've change this photo of a Meadow Brown to another Meadow Brown which I think is a little more interesting, my camera is a Kodak Easyshare P712.

I’m sitting here in a hotel room somewhere in the Haut Verdon and wondering where all the high altitude species are, but I’ve just found a wifi network, so here’s my entry (just in time, I hope) for the June competition. This male Queen of Spain Fritillary was very small and very dark, the darkest I’ve ever seen.

Absolutely superb picture ~ Well done ~ fabulous butterfly often afforded little import because of its name ... common. I for one am very glad this beautiful creature is still relatively common ~ that is numerous and widespread.
