Just for the record, that last (lovely) lesser spotted fritillary is a knapweed fritillary. I sent a PM but when I checked my outbox I found the last four PMs I sent were still there ... So I've gone public!

Many thanks. I will withdraw that photo. I had two photos of backlit lesser spotted fritillaries and then two of the knapweed fritillary which were wrongly tagged. I have sent a PM explaining why your messages were not picked up, due to two bereavements and a premature arrival of a grandson!!

My first gatekeeper of the season, lonely and as surprised to see me as i was it!

One from me - a female Common Blue seen locally on 24th May.

The species loves these grass vetchlings and the warm wet spring weather this year produced a lush growth of the plant.
