Very little round my way too, Katrina. It's such a contrast compared to this time last year, when temperatures were warmer and Red Admirals were about in their dozens.

I reckon November may be tricky this year, with such a dearth of those species that can usually be relied upon in that month (during the first half at least).

Thank Paul, as well as mis typing flaying for flying, I managed to misread your post as flying too!
They could well be something subconscious at work. I could see they had cut a little bit of the lowest slope down. Having parked in a different car park from normal, I took a bit of a scenic route back down a path that became narrower and narrower with brambles and I wasn’t sure I was going to make it through. It would be good though if butterflies could do their own flaying!

Thanks for your commiseration David. I think I just picked the wrong site as I read on the Sussex butterfly website that nine species had been seen at Lancing Ring
