Discussion forum for any overseas items (given that this is a "UK" butterflies forum!).

Overseas butterfly tours

Post by Ian Pratt »

Can anyone recommend a tour company for overseas butterfly/wildlife tours please? Greenwings, Naturetrek, Green Tours and Mariposa Nature Tours advertise in the Butterfly Conservation magazine. I have been on several British Bulgarian Society trips which were excellent. Any comments will be appreciated.

Since this thread has descended into a love-fest for different tour providers, I’m locking it. Sorry, Ian, but I don’t think you’ll get a sensible answer to your question here when most of the guides for the different companies are UKB members!

Cheers,

- Pete

Butterfly Tour Operators

Post by Rogerdodge »

Peter
As you know, I have been on this site almost from day one. I am not as active as I once was, but I still look at this forum almost every day.
I am really disappointed that you took down my post in reply to Ian Pratt's request for information on butterfly tour operators.
Of course you will have a "love fest" on this subject. We have had loads of "love fests" before on loads of subjects - cameras, lenses, editing software, books, best sites for various species etc etc.
None of these got taken down!
I have no interest in any tour company other than as a happy customer. I have travelled with the British Bulgarian Society and the peerless Nick Greatorex-Davies, Naturetrek, and Wildlife Worldwide, all very good indeed.
As I write, I am in Rhodes with Mariposa Nature and am having a brilliant time.
Surely, posts from happy customers with no axe to grind are exactly what Ian is after. I only mentioned Mariposa's guides by6 name because they are so well known due to being regular contributors on this forum.
Thus, I am requesting you unlock and reinstate the thread and my post and others.
Thank you.
Roger Harding

This thread is now unlocked - Paul and Roger - I'm unable to restore your original posts but feel free to post again.

The issue, Roger, is what happened after your post with another member making claims against a certain tour company. Anyway, without going into details, they are now banned.

So please - no abuse on the forums, and no explicit advertising without permission.

Cheers,

- Pete
